Organic Chemistry AI (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) helps you solve organic chemistry problems by scanning a photo or typing your problem, then showing a step-by-step AI solution. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app and how we protect it.

1. Information we process

Problem images and text. When you scan a problem, select a photo, or type a problem, the image or text is sent over HTTPS to our backend to produce an AI solution. The image is processed to extract the problem and is not stored server-side.

Anonymous device identifier. A random UUID on your device is used to enforce free-solve limits and link your App Store subscription. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID.

Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to verify Pro status. We do not receive your payment card details.

Local data. Solve history and preferences stay on your device (SwiftData). They do not leave the device unless you back up through Apple.

Offline tools. Calculators, quizzes, flashcards, and the formula reference run on-device and send no data for those features.

2. What we do not collect

• No account or email required
• No advertising trackers or ad SDKs
• We do not sell personal information
• We do not store solve images server-side

3. How AI solving works

Your problem image or text is sent over HTTPS to our backend API, which uses AI to generate the step-by-step solution. The request includes the problem content and an anonymous device ID for rate limiting. Images are not stored after the request completes.

4. Camera and photo library

Scan mode uses the camera and Apple’s photo picker. You choose a specific image. Crop-to-problem happens on-device before upload. You can deny or revoke access in iOS Settings.
